This summer we are introducing a new aspect of the regular camp program for some of the interested older students, ages 15 – 18, can register in if they want (standard registration is still an option).
By registering with a “Student Intensive,” students can choose to focus and learn on a behind-the-scene or leadership area of the show. In addition to being fun and productive, this experience will help hone skills for their futures and resumes. Students may do BOTH performing and Intensive participation.
Possible Responsibilities to Choose From:
Stage Manager Apprentice – Learns from the Stage Manager how to be the “brain” of the show who organizes the prompt book, coordinates backstage transitions, or calls lighting and sound cues during performances (depending on role arrangement with the Stage Manager).
Choreographer Apprentice – Assists in creating and polishing dance numbers, ensuring everyone knows their movements and stays in formation.
Music Director Apprentice – Learns from the Music Director to teach vocal harmonies and help performers master their songs and timing.
Costume Apprentice – Learns and assists the Costume Designer design, organize outfits, manage quick changes, and ensure everyone has their specific look.
Props Apprentice – Sources (from existing stock or requests acquisitions from the Production Manager) and builds the items needed for the show and manages them during the run.
Sound Operator – Responsible for managing the soundboard, balancing backing tracks with live vocals, and ensuring the audience hears every line.
Microphone Technician – Manages the wireless microphones, including taping them to actors, monitoring battery levels, and helping to troubleshoot audio issues backstage.
Scenic Painter Lead – Lead crews of other students in painting the set on stage
Producer Apprentice – Learns to manage the “business” of the show, including playbill design, organizing front-of-house logistics, coordinating ticket sales, and assisting with cast communications.
Footloose Theatre may offer a discretionary honorarium (~$50) at the end of the show as a gift of appreciation and model a professional stipend. Unfortunately, this cannot be financially guaranteed, but, if given, it will be given to all Student Intensives.
